Talc powder

Talc, the softest known mineral on the earth , is often found mixed with other minerals and composed of hydrated magnesium silicate with the chemical formula Mg3Si4O10(OH)2. It is number 01 as hardness on Mohs scale. It is a translucent mineral with a pearly luster and has a soapy feel. It is organophilic as it shows an affinity for certain organic chemicals.

Properties :

• Anti Sticking Agent

• Lubricant

• Thickner

• Strengthner

• Smooth filler

• Adsorbent

• Chemically Inert

• Affinity to Organic Chemicals

Talc is an industrial raw material in powder form, which is used in a wide range of applications. We are the leading manufacturer , supplier and exporter of best quality Talc powder in different parts of the world as it forms an important part of our everyday life .

Paints :

Talc is an ideal pigment, filler and extender in house and industrial paints and primers, adhesives, inks , enamels as it brings a range of benefits to colour concentrates, body fillers. Talc's low hardness is valued because it causes less abrasion damage on spray nozzles and other equipment when paint is applied. It improves mechanical and optical properties, cracking resistance and also increases smoothness and stability of paint products.

Ceramics :

It is widely used in ceramic floor tiles, sanitaryware, pottery and dineware. It improves the vitrification process, allowing producers to reduce firing temperatures and shorten firing cycles improving the strength of the finished product.

Plastics :

Talc is an excellent reinforcing filler in polypropylene and engineering thermoplastics for automotive parts, domestic appliances and manufacture of bumpers, dashboards, computer and TV bodies. It is used for antiblocking in polyethylene; restores mechanical properties to recycle plastics; and is an ideal nucleating agent in biopolymers and semi-crystalline polymers. When added to wood-plastic composites, it improves structural integrity and increasingly used as a sustainable substitute for lumber in outdoor decking.

Paper :

Talc being hydrophobic, is used in the pulp, paper and board industry as a filler, to control pitch and stickies ( organic impurities) which clog machines and in paper coating . It also greatly improves printing runnability and reduces deterioration of machinery. It gives smoothness, opacity to paper, whiteness, ability to absorb ink resulting in a paper with a much smoother writing surface .

Cosmetics :

Finely ground talc is used as the powder base of many cosmetic products. The tiny platelets of a talc powder readily adhere to the skin but can be washed off easily. Talc's softness allows it to be applied and removed without causing skin abrasion. It has been used as a body powder for hundreds of years and is an ideal carriers for perfumes as it is soft to the touch and chemically inert. Talc provides the silkiness in blushers and eye shadows; the transparency of foundations and the sheen of powder compacts. Soap manufacturers use talc as a filler, where it enhances the softness and lather of soaps and cuts formulation costs.

Pharmaceuticals :

Talc is an ideal excipient for tablets, a carrier for medicated powders and a glidant and lubricant in tablet production. In pharmaceutical coatings, talc is an excellent anti-tack agent. It is used in enteric coatings for targeted delivery of drugs.

Rubber :

Talc is used in seals, hoses, membranes, cables, tires and other mechanical rubber goods to improve processing, permeability, weathering, electrical properties, fire resistance and mechanical properties such as tear in tires. It improves the viscosity of compounds, impermeability of inner liners, improving rolling resistance and contributing to better fuel efficiency.

Roofing matrials :

Talc is added to the asphaltic materials used to make roofing materials to improve their weather resistance. It is also dusted onto the surface of roll roofing and shingles to prevent sticking.

Agriculture :

Talc powder is used as a carrier for insecticides and fungicides. It can easily be blown through a nozzle and readily sticks to the leaves and stems of plants. Its softness reduces wear on application equipment.
